Heating System Upgrade
Menorah School, Harrow
Case study demonstrating work completed by an R&O engineer, to modernise the school’s heating infrastructure, helping to provide a more efficient, reliable and future-ready solutions:
With a total project value of £205,000, this scheme involved the removal of outdated oil-fired equipment and the design and installation of a fully upgraded commercial heating system.
After initially assessing the school’s heating systems, we:
Safely removed the oil-fired boilers
Stripped out associated vessels, pipework and circulation pumps
To avoid interruption to the hot water and heating, we supplied and installed temporary plant equipment; this ensured the school could continue operating comfortably while the permanent solution was constructed and commissioned.
Following the strip-out phase, we designed and built a brand-new commercial plant room tailored to the school’s operational requirements.
The new installation included:
Six Ideal Evomax boilers configured on a low loss header system
Plate Heat Exchanger (PHEX) integration
New cascade flue system
Full replacement of pipework infrastructure
New pumps, gauges, expansion vessels and pressurisation units
Upgraded gas supply
A new BMS control panel
Upon completion of the installation, our engineers carried out a full heat test of the system. We then instructed the boiler manufacturer (ideal) to attend the school and fully commission the boilers.
In addition, we provided the school with a numbered valve chart, which was left on site in the plant room for future reference.
Once this was completed, we provided the school with a full set of O&M’s and as built A1 drawings with an additional back up of a hard drive.
